Proof that Accessible bathrooms can be beautiful too!
"I need my bathroom to cater to my needs... but..."
A beautiful testament to how accessible design can be both functional and breathtaking, Surf Beach House reimagines a tired, impractical bathroom into a serene, supportive sanctuary.
Our client needed a space that provided essential physical supports — but without compromising on beauty, style, or individuality.
By reclaiming space from an inefficient cupboard, we expanded the bathroom footprint to integrate a streamlined upstairs laundry, improving everyday accessibility and independence.
The centrepiece of the design is a stunning walk-in shower, featuring a built-in seat for comfort, slip-rated floor tiles for safety, and cleverly disguised accessibility supports.
Disability grab rails — including the towel rail itself — were custom made in Melbourne to meet Australian Standards, offering security without sacrificing style.
The result is a thoughtfully designed, sensory-aware space that honours both form and function, allowing our client to move through her home with ease, dignity, and joy.

Downstairs Renovation
Once the upstairs bathroom renovation was complete including the incorporation of the laundry, we were able to tackle the downstairs bathroom.
Once an enclosed shower doubling in the laundry space, we were able to create a beautiful walk/wheel in shower. One wall was fully wallpapered to bring that something special and again, all accessible supports were added. This room is now beautiful and joyful.
